Home Builders and Residential Contractors

Home Builders and residential contractors, those involved in building houses or multi-unit housing structures, share many of the needs of the commercial builder but often differ due to size of the structure and the multi-purpose needs of these structures. ComputerEase construction management software helps solve these issues and more.

Key areas for many home building and residential builders are subcontractor management, change order management and lot price purchasing.

Perhaps you are building 20 separate homes in a subdivision based upon one of several models. Each individual home buyer may customize their new home with standard options but later in the build phase opt for higher end or lower end options. This involves a change order. How do you know the change order that you are looking at is the most current one? Has the "cost" of this change order been captured and billed appropriately?

What impact on scheduling does this change order have? Can you quickly shift personnel resources to a different site while waiting for delivery of the changed item? Using the ComputerEase employee center tool you can!

As a residential contractor or home builder you know you are going to need approximately 50 toilet units of varying colors and styles. Can you take advantage of lot price purchasing?

Or do you have some of these items in your warehouse as inventory returned from another job? Is your inventory management system capable of telling you what is stored in your warehouse that could be used? How quickly can you get these items on-site to meet deadlines?

With ComputerEase construction management software these questions and many more project management questions can be quickly answered either on-site or from the main office.

"Ability to manage that job"

Whether, as you mentioned, whether they’re on ComputerEase or they’re on QuickBooks or whatever software they’re using, the most important aspect to any contractor is the work in progress. It’s the lifeblood, it’s where cash flow starts, it’s where profitability starts, it’s where cash flow ends. Uh, and if a contractor cannot gather information uh, seamlessly and with little effort, he’s not going to be able to manage that job (project management) and know if the uh, for example, in a cement contractor, he’s not going to know if his flatwork phase is over budget or under budget until that budget and that phase is complete. If he doesn’t know that he’s over budget until he’s complete, then he’s going to be out of luck. You know, the change order times may be gone, he can’t issue a change order. ComputerEase in that, basically enables that contractor to break those jobs down into sub phases, if you will, many jobs inside of a larger job and allows him to analyze that job with virtually no, no extra effort, no extra data entry because once payroll’s input, once billings are done, and once AP and purchase orders are issued, all of that information basically seamlessly flows into the job center.
