General Contractors

General Contractors, those contractors who bid and manage a project from start to completion, have needs that vary based upon the size of their company and the job. ComputerEase construction management software understands these needs. Are you building a large scale development? Is your job on a clean or a brownfield site? Is new infrastructure needed like sewers, roads/streets, utilities, etc.? Is it a mixed use job (residential and commercial, office and manufacturing, or some other combination)? Or are you working on a smaller scale, subbing out only those portions requiring specialized trades?

Even if your company has in-house specialty departments (like electrical, mechanical and plumbing) you may still need to subcontract out some of the work. Use the Bid Management tool to estimate the job, invite vendors to bid, track bids received from subs, determine the best bids/subcontractors for the job, issue subcontractor agreements and more.

Use ComputerEase's scheduling tools to keep track of the job and make sure the job is progressing on time and on budget. Should a revision in the schedule be needed, simply make the revision and ComputerEase automatically adjusts other corresponding or dependent activities to the revision.

Using a large number of subcontractors (or only a few) can add greatly to your accounting workload. The Subcontractor Center helps make tracking payments, wage rates, change orders, retainage and more simple with ComputerEase.

ComputerEase cannot guarantee that a general contractor's job will be easy, but it can help take care of much of the paperwork and simplify project management.

We have a small general contractor, for example, this was probably three years ago, he came to the office, uh, had met with three different CPA's, was interviewing to see who he wanted to use as his consultant. Uh, we made the recommendation at that point, based upon our interview with him uh, that QuickBooks was not going to work. He was doing too much AIA billing, prevailing wage and uh, retention issues inside his company that we basically said, if you're going to get started, you might as well use a system that can handle what you need and we recommended ComputerEase. And that's why he went with us, we were the only firm that uh, addressed his needs I guess and, and pushed him and advised him to use a ComputerEase type of software.

Other areas that we see that ComputerEase does a wonderful job on is they have a very strong subcontract management system and bid management system. So the general contractors and large subcontractors that are taking bids from subcontractors and managing subcontractors, there’s an area in there to control that whole process in such a way that uh, costs are controlled, documents are printed, time is saved.
